POST -CONSTRUCTION
Post-construction cleaning is essentially a multi-stage war against dust. It’s much more intensive than a standard deep clean because you’re dealing with fine drywall particles, adhesive residue, and sawdust that finds its way into every nook and cranny.
Professionals usually break this down into three phases: the Rough Clean, the Deep Clean, and the Final Touch-up.
Here is the itemized breakdown of what is included.
ALL ROOMS
- Walls & Ceilings: Dry-dusting or damp-wiping to remove drywall dust and scuff marks.
- Baseboards & Trim: Detailed wiping of all molding, baseboards, and door frames.
- Doors: Cleaning the tops of doors, knobs, and hinges.
- Floors: Vacuuming (using HEPA filters), mopping, or buffing hard surfaces; deep vacuuming carpets.
Light Fixtures: Wiping down bulbs, globes, and mounting hardware.
- Vents & Grates: Removing dust from HVAC covers and ceiling fans.
Hardware: Polishing doorknobs, handrails, and hardware finishes.
- Closets: Wiping down shelves, rods, and floor corners.
KITCHEN
- Cabinets & Drawers: Cleaning inside and out (vacuuming out sawdust from drawer tracks).
- Appliances: Removing all protective film, labels, and cleaning inside/outside of the oven, fridge, and dishwasher.
- Countertops: Deep cleaning and polishing (especially granite or marble).
- Backsplash: Removing grout haze or adhesive residue.
- Sink & Faucets: Scrubbing and polishing stainless steel or porcelain.
BATHROOMS
- Toilets, Tubs, & Showers: Full sanitation and removal of any construction stickers.
- Wall Tiles: Specific treatment to remove grout haze and dried adhesives.
- Mirrors & Glass: Streak-free cleaning of all reflective surfaces.
- Vanities: Cleaning inside drawers and under the sink area.
- Medicine Cabinets: Wiping down mirrors and interior glass shelving.
WINDOWS AND GLASS
Construction leaves a unique mess on glass, including paint overspray and stickers.
- Glass Panes: Scraping off stickers, silicone, and paint (using professional-grade glass scrapers).
- Window Tracks: Vacuuming out debris and wiping the tracks clean.
- Sills & Frames: Wiping down the interior (and sometimes exterior) frames.
UTILITIES AND SAFETY
- Utility Closets: Dusting water heaters and furnace exteriors.
- Switch Plates: Wiping dust off all light switches and outlet covers.
- Trash Removal: Gathering any leftover small debris or packaging materials.
- HVAC filters. After the final clean, I will replace all air filters, as they are likely clogged with fine construction dust that will just settle back onto your clean surfaces the moment the AC kicks on.
